The photos shows The Clothes Show presenters, Jeff Banks and Selina Scott. The item obviously had a 1950s rock and roll theme.

The Clothes Show was a fashion magazine show, which went out weekly on a Sunday between 1986-2000. It was devised and produced by Roger Casstles. The series became well known for its high production values and stylish inserts, which often used innovative DVE transitions, canted shots and contemporary chart music.

The following comments were left on the Pebble Mill Facebook page:

Annie Gumbley-Williams: ‘Ivor Williams, and Brian Watkiss plus other editors on the Clothes Show won a BAFTA for editing the Clothes Show, and were also nominated a second time. The BAFTA disappeared from Pebble Mill when it closed. Anyone know where it went?’

Jane Clement: ‘It was a rock n roll edition of The Clothes Show back in our era – I remember they had a local rock n roll club there dancing, who are probably the people in the background. Roger Casstles and Claire Stride producing, of course, and Janice Rider would have been on wardrobe – fun job for her. Can’t remember who else worked on it though.’

Claire Cotton: ‘Remember it well as one of BBC Birmingham’s big hits, with its spin off event Clothes Show Live still going. I loved working on it, with Jane Galpin running the London office and Colette Foster and Roger Casstles our Birmingham Office. I am still in touch with many ex Clothes Show people including James Strong (who went on to direct Dr Who and Downtown Abbey) and James Morgan who went on to do Springwatch, the Apprentice and won a BAFTA for Big Blue Live.’

These publicity photos are from the 1989, 5 part, Pebble Mill drama series, Shalom Salaam. The drama tells the interconnected stories of a Jewish and a Muslim family, and their children’s interracial romance.

The director and script writer was Gareth Jones, with Chris Parr the producer.

The series starred Zia Mohyeddin, Charlotte Cornwell, John Cater, Buki Armstron, Mamta Kaash.

The following common was posted by Janice Rider on the Pebble Mill Facebook Page: ‘Ayub Khan Din – top right behind Zia Moyeddhin went on to write East is East and Jimmi Harkishin ( top next to Ayub ) is of course a regular in Corrie.’

The five part series was transmitted between 26th April – 24th May 1989. The story followed the lives of a Jewish and a Muslim family in Leicester, and a mixed race relationship, over the course of five years.

Gareth Jones wrote the script and directed the drama, with Chris Parr the producer.

The series starred Zia Mohyeddin as Sadiq Sattar; Charlotte Cornwell as Sarah Morris; John Cater as Joe Astler; Buki Armstrong as Candy; and Mamta Kaash as Mumtaz Sattar; Toby Rolt as Adam Morris; and Clare Holman as Jackie.

Rules of Justice was a television play transmitted in 1981. It was based on the true story of the fight for justice around the case of Colin Lattimore, imprisoned for the murder of a transvestite prostitute.

The director was Colin Tucker; the producer, Ruth Caleb; the script was by William Humble; and Peter Goodchild was the executive producer; with Myles Lang the production designer.

The play featured Tony London as Colin Lattimore, with June Brown and Percy Herbert playing his parents.

These polaroids were taken by costume designer, Janice Rider for continuity purposes during the filming of the drama series, Nanny. The series starred Wendy Craig, as Nanny, and was set in 1930-40s Britain. It was a London series, hosted by BBC Pebble Mill. There were three series, transmitted between 1981-3.
